"Matador" - 22x30in. original watercolor + Gicleé reproductions
I started calling this "Matador" when the bull's head appeared. For me the abstract image shifts back and forth from something representational to something completely abstract. The collapsing figure above the concentric circles represents a life form, having emerged from the concentric circles and now collapsing back into them. Evolution and entropy. The breath of life, expressed in a single frame. The four-sided circles, or circles with crosshairs, representing masculine and feminine and everything that results from the balance of these properties in life.
It's a pretty heady piece actually. And completely as vibrant as it appears here. It's one of my best and when I'm dead and gone, it will be considered one of my finest for sure.
